This privately owned company is seeking a highly creative and curious chemist to lead their team, as the current President and Chemist is retiring from day-to-day operations. The company values long-term employees, with many having been here for over 20 years, and offers an opportunity to build and grow a team.They are seeking an experienced and talented R&D Director to lead, develop, and train their technical team. This role involves defining the company's strategy for product and process development and overseeing key R&D projects related to wax powders, dispersions, emulsions, and other advanced materials.Essential Functions include:

• Technical Leadership: Oversee critical R&D initiatives, align with business goals, and ensure projects meet timelines and drive growth.
• R&D Discovery: Develop research programs, improve existing products, explore new raw materials and technologies.
• Technology Improvement: Evaluate and implement new technologies to maintain competitive advantage and enhance product performance.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and other departments to align technical and market needs.
• Materials and Process Evaluation: Optimize materials, processes, and equipment for product development and efficiency.
• Training and Development: Implement training programs to enhance team skills and foster continuous improvement.
• Performance Monitoring: Mentor team members, promote high performance and accountability.
• Documentation: Ensure thorough documentation of all R&D activities for transparency and compliance.
• Customer Relationship Management: Build relationships with customers through site visits and testing.
• Quality Assurance: Collaborate with QC to optimize product specifications for profitability.
• Industry Engagement: Represent the company at industry events and stay updated on trends.Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Lead and develop the global technical team, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
• Manage recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.

• Master's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field required; PhD preferred.

• Ability to work in a lab environment with PPE and safety training; must be clean-shaven for respirator use.
