Job Description:
About the School-York Prep School
York Preparatory School is a New York City independent school
committed to creating a nurturing environment that challenges and
supports each student in a diverse and inclusive setting.
Compassionate and accessible educators guide our students through a
traditional and rigorous curriculum while employing a range of
innovative techniques to cultivate each individual student's
skills, abilities, and interests. York strives to educate the whole
child, meeting each student where they are, and supporting them as
they grow into lifelong learners and responsible citizens.
York Prep seeks a dynamic and experienced educational leader to
serve as the Director of Learning Support . The Director will be a
member of the school's Senior Leadership Team and report directly
to the Head of School. They will oversee our academic support
program, Jump Start, and provide both strategic direction and
day-to-day oversight for York Prep's comprehensive learning support
services.
Jump Start is central to York Prep's mission. Students enrolled in
Jump Start have diagnosed learning differences and are able to
thrive in a mainstream, rigorous college prep setting with the
right support. Students meet with their Jump Start teacher in small
groups before and after school each day and individually twice a
week. With more than half of York Prep students enrolled in Jump
Start at any given time, the program is deeply tied to the broader
success of the school. The program is staffed by about 30 dedicated
learning specialists.
