Licensed Clinician (Behavioral Health Mental Health & Substance Use
Services) Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Licensed
Clinician provides mental health (MH) and substance use disorder
(SUD) clinical services, including assessment, treatment planning,
psychotherapy/counseling, care coordination, and documentation, in
accordance with agency policy and NJ regulatory/DMHAS requirements.
Clinical Services (MH & SUD) Provide individual, group, and family
therapy/counseling to assigned caseload. Complete MH and/or SUD
biopsychosocial assessments, diagnostic impressions (as within
scope), screening tools, and ongoing reassessments. Develop and
update individualized treatment plans that address MH symptoms, SUD
needs, co-occurring conditions, risk factors, and recovery goals.
Provide evidence-informed interventions (e.g., CBT, MI, relapse
prevention, skill-building, psychoeducation) within scope of
practice. Deliver client and family education on mental health
conditions, substance use, medications (as appropriate), relapse
prevention, coping skills, and available supports. Provide crisis
intervention, suicide risk assessment/safety planning,
de-escalation, and emergency coordination as needed. Coordinate and
make appropriate referrals for MH and SUD needs (e.g.,
psychiatry/med management, detox, inpatient/residential, IOP/OP,
MAT providers, primary care, shelters, benefits, DDD/support
services, community recovery supports). Care Coordination and Case
Management Provide clinical case management and maintain regular
contact with clients and collateral supports (with proper consent
and confidentiality requirements). Participate in treatment team
meetings, case conferences, and interdisciplinary coordination to
support integrated MH/SUD care. Support continuity of care
including discharge planning, step-down/step-up transitions,
aftercare planning, and follow-up when assigned. Documentation and
Compliance Complete required intakes and ongoing documentation in
NJSAMS and the agency EHR (as applicable to program requirements).
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical records
consistent with DMHAS, payer, and agency standards (including
progress notes, treatment plans, authorizations, releases, and
discharge documentation). Follow agency policies and procedures;
communicate clinical/program improvement needs to leadership as
appropriate. Professional Responsibilities Attend and participate
in clinical supervision, staff meetings, trainings, and required
in-services. Participate in an on-call rotation if assigned.
Support positive community relationships and outreach activities as
needed. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications /
Educational Requirements Masters degree in Social Work, Counseling,
Psychology, or related behavioral health field. Active New Jersey
license/credential in good standing (accepted credentials may
include): LCSW / LSW LPC / LAC LCADC / CADC (as applicable to
program/role) Strong interpersonal skills and professional
demeanor. Excellent written/oral communication and strong
organization/time-management skills. Computer proficiency and
ability to document accurately in EHR systems; NJSAMS familiarity
preferred. Knowledge of NJ levels of care, MH/SUD referral
pathways, and co-occurring treatment practices preferred. Ability
to work independently and collaboratively (flexibility,
accountability, professionalism). Work Environment and Physical

noise and controlled temperatures. Regular interaction with clients
