Assistant Professor - Computer Systems Technology (Cybersecurity)FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTNew York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn, offering associate and baccalaureate degrees, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Computer Systems Technology department at the Assistant Professor level, to begin during the 2025-2026 academic year.The department is engaged in the development of innovative associate and baccalaureate curricula to educate students in emerging information technologies and their application to business, science, the arts and other human endeavors. It is one of the largest departments in the College, offering AAS, BTech (in Computer Systems), BS (in Data Science) and BS (in Cybersecurity) degrees in multiple areas of concentration. The CST department is part of the School of Technology and Design, which provides a unique environment for interdisciplinary research and learning.Reporting to the chairperson of the Department of Computer Systems Technology, the position requires a commitment to teaching, scholarly research resulting in publications and presentations, sustained service to the department and college, and academic advisement. The faculty member will be expected to participate actively in College/University-wide initiatives and function collaboratively in department level efforts, playing an active role in the creation, development, and assessment of department curricula. The department seeks an innovative technologist having both a solid theoretical background and technical expertise in various areas of computer science and/or cybersecurity.QUALIFICATIONSMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSPh.D. in Computer Science / Cybersecurity or related field. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Ph.D. must be conferred by August 2025 for a Fall 2025 appointment.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated expertise in Cybersecurity is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of two years' college-level teaching
experience.COMPENSATION$75,465 - $93,134. Salary commensurate with
qualifications and experience.CUNY is in the process of
implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries
of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09%, with additional
increases of 3.25% effective 9/01/2025 and 3.5% effective
9/01/2026, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective
bargaining agreement.CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation
