Amazon Catalog Services builds the systems that host and run the world’s largest e-Commerce catalog. Within this organization, Product Knowledge (PK) is responsible for mining, modeling, storing and vending the product catalog metadata. This metadata (schema) governs all the possible product information and powers Amazon end-to-end processes, starting on how we organize products, how we define all possible product attributes, how we guide selling partners when listing them, all the way to power customer shopping experiences (e.g., product overview in detail pages, browse taxonomy, search and navigation filters). We are expanding our ability to process metadata using Generative AI, building Product Knowledge, making faster decisions comparable to humans by leveraging LLMs and GenAI Agents with high precision. As a Software Development Engineer, you will tackle our most complex challenges, building high-quality, architecturally sound systems that align with our business needs and propel us forward. You'll translate business needs into workable technology solutions, collaborating closely with product managers and engineering teams to deliver innovative products. Your expertise will be both deep and broad, allowing you to produce detailed technical work, high-level architectural designs, and solutions that push the boundaries of what's possible. Key job responsibilities Our products are cover both automated services and solutions designed for business users, so you must have full-stack experience and be comfortable traversing across backend and front-end. We're prioritizing the following experience: - Proven experience in leveraging the right AWS tech stacks and methodologies to build highly performant, scalable systems that fit our fast growing business's scale. - Programming proficency with at least one of Java (Coral framework preferred), Python, or TypeScript - Experience in handling non-deterministic AI/ML systems, including error handling, fallback strategies, and managing unpredictable outputs from LLMs - Experience in partnering with scientist to deliver scalable services based on AI/ML systems - Knowledge of personalization systems, recommendation engines, or dynamic content generation About the team Team members are enthusiastic, friendly and supportive. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
