Job Description:

Toland Law is expanding, and we're searching for a legal assistant in Hamden, Connecticut. You'll be vital to creating memorable client experiences and helping the firm's owner in growing the business. You'll provide a high level of customer service to our clients and complete crucial tasks to assist the legal team.

This critical function includes important administrative tasks related to customer service and direct legal support. This is a part-time position for 20 hours a week in the office. Immediate start.

Responsibilities:

Organize case and business files to ensure attorneys readily have the information they need
Oversee the office communications and tasks, including answering phones, sorting mail, creating and scanning copies, responding to emails, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlines
--- Ensure the highest level of client satisfaction by responding in a timely manner to all client calls, questions, or inquiries
--- Make confirmation calls for upcoming appointments and help ensure minimal cancellations
--- Follow up with clients or prospective clients on missing documentation or other pertinent information
--- Draft routine correspondence
--- E-file documents with the probate court and government agencies
--- Monitor probate court notices and filings both online and in print
--- Open and maintain client files and assemble documents in accordance with established procedures
--- Contact current and former clients to cultivate and nurture relationships
--- Assist with seminar or webinar preparation and registration
--- Proactively manage and maintain the calendar
--- Help set up and maintain client-related tracking tools
--- Perform general operational tasks as needed, such as preparing and opening or sorting mail

Qualifications:

Candidates should possess high-level organizational skills and time-management skills
Prior experience in a law firm environment as a legal assistant
Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs and common applications (Google Calendar, Outlook, etc.) is a must
We prefer applicants who have an associate's degree or some college; high school diploma or equivalent GED required
