Job Description:

Job Description Job Description Whitemore James Black is a legal search firm. Our client, a mid-sized national firm, is presently seeking to add an experienced whistleblower attorney to join their firm as an associate. This group within the firm represents individuals who expose fraud, waste, abuse, or violations of law—often involving government contracts, securities, healthcare, or corporate misconduct. Their practice focuses on protecting whistleblowers from retaliation while pursuing substantial recoveries under federal and state whistleblower statutes, including the False Claims Act (qui tam actions), SEC/CFTC whistleblower programs, and relevant state laws. This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-level attorney passionate about public interest litigation, government accountability, and advocating for courageous individuals who stand up against wrongdoing. Key Responsibilities - Advise clients on whistleblower protections, retaliation claims, and strategies to report misconduct to agencies such as the DOJ, SEC, or state attorneys general. - Conduct thorough investigations, gather and analyze evidence, draft complaints, motions, and briefs. - Collaborate with government agencies during investigations and interventions. - Handle all aspects of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motions practice, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation (when necessary). - Counsel clients on risks, confidentiality, anonymity where possible, and maximizing potential monetary awards/rewards. - Stay current on evolving federal and state whistleblower laws, regulations, and case law. - Mentor junior staff and contribute to firm knowledge-sharing on whistleblower matters. Qualifications - J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission in good standing required in the jurisdiction of practice. - 5–8 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in whistleblowerlitigation, government investigations, complex civil litigation, employment/retaliation defense, or related plaintiff-side fraud or securities work. - Strong litigation skills, including drafting persuasive legal documents and managing cases from intake through resolution. - Excellent analytical, research, and writing abilities. - Commitment to client-centered advocacy and protecting whistleblowers from retaliation. - Ability to handle sensitive, high-stakes matters with discretion and professionalism. - Experience interacting with federal/state agencies is highly desirable. Compensation & Benefits - Competitive base salary of $150,000–$180,000, based on experience. - Discretionary bonus tied to individual and firm performance, case outcomes, and recoveries. - Comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off). - Professional development opportunities and support for continuing legal education. - Collaborative, mission-driven environment focused on impactful work. If you are a skilled attorney with a passion for whistleblower rights and the experience to handle complex cases, we encourage you to apply. Please submit your resume in response to your posting. Whitemore James Black will not submit your resume without your express permission. All searches are confidential. We look forward to hearing from you.
